A note from our founder

Hi,

I'm Jeremy, the Founder of PackPay. Thanks for checking out our software engineer position. I want to share a few thoughts to help you know if we're a right fit for each other.

We're a startup located in Birmingham, AL and I'm building the company inside Harmony Venture Labs (HVL). PackPay is designed to help Consumer Packaged Goods brands collect revenue they've lost to short-pays from retailers and distributors. To accomplish this, we are building agents to find, investigate, and resolve disputes for our customers.

Currently, we have a proof of concept, customer validation, and a clear problem to solve. We're encouraged by the feedback we've received and we are ready to turn the proof of concept into production-ready software that we will take to market.

I am looking for a software engineer to work alongside me to turn early traction into a scalable product and help build the technical foundation of the company.

In this role you will:

• Lead technical development
• Architect and build scalable web applications, APIs, AI workflows, and infrastructure
• Turn customer workflows into reliable product behavior
• Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on new ideas
• Make foundational decisions around tooling, infrastructure, security, and engineering

I'm looking for someone who:

• Has hands-on experience building software (especially with AI experience)
• Loves the idea of solving big, complicated problems in the face of uncertainty
• Can work quickly while making thoughtful decisions

We use a wide array of tools here… React/Next.js, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP, LLMs, etc. But what we care more about than the tools is your ability to learn, adapt, and build.

I'm biased, but I think we're building something great and I'm excited to build out the team who can execute the vision. This position is a great role for someone who wants to operate with a high degree of autonomy and wants to shape the product we are building. It's not great for someone who wants a list of tickets to knock out every day and needs a perfectly defined roadmap before they can take action.

This is an in-person role in Birmingham, AL and the compensation is a mix of salary and equity.
